Go Live From OBS Without Retraining the Crew

OBS Studio is the encoder your production crew already runs: it captures the chamber cameras, mixes in the slides and sends out one program feed. Point that feed at a publishing point on Nexus and the meeting becomes a live event on the portal, recorded, and published on demand when the session ends. AI Intelligence Hub then answers questions over the recording. The crew's scenes, sources and hotkeys stay as they are.

What you can do together

  • Run the meeting as a scheduled event on Nexus: registered viewers get an email reminder with a calendar attachment, late joiners rewind within the DVR window, and the audience watches in the portal or in a player embedded on your own site, restricted to approved domains.
  • Take questions on a channel separate from chat, answered by moderators and exported afterwards, while chat runs moderated and archives onto the recording as comments.
  • Publish the recording on demand the moment the session ends, with a transcript aligned to the timeline, captions generated from it, and chapters at topic boundaries.
  • Ask AI Intelligence Hub what was said about a topic across a year of meetings and get an answer citing the moment in each recording.
  • Reach the public on Facebook Live and YouTube alongside the portal stream, from one encode, where the deployment has outbound internet.

How it connects

OBS Studio sends its program feed over RTMP to a publishing point. The point is created on the portal against the configured streaming server, which can be VIDIZMO's own, Wowza in the cloud or on premises, or a general streaming server, and its address goes into OBS's stream settings once. A persistent publishing point keeps the same destination across events, so a weekly meeting never needs the encoder reconfigured.

What flows is the live feed, inbound. The portal delivers it to viewers over HLS in the same HTML5 player used for on-demand content, and by multicast on an on-premises network that supports it. Recording is started on the publishing point. Where the streaming server records server-side, the capture is uploaded into the library; otherwise the recording OBS writes locally is uploaded instead.

Nothing flows back to OBS. Scenes, sources, transitions and encoder settings live in OBS. The schedule, the audience, chat, Q and A, the recording and its retention live in the portal.

A scenario

  1. 17:40The technician opens the same OBS scene collection as last month: two chamber cameras, the presentation laptop and a lower-third. The stream settings still point at the persistent publishing point. He presses Start Streaming, and the live control room on Nexus shows the incoming feed.
  2. 18:00The clerk starts the session from the control room. Residents who registered had a reminder that morning and open the portal or the player embedded on the county website.
  3. 18:25A resident joining late rewinds to the start of public comment while the meeting continues. Another submits a question on the Q and A channel, and a moderator answers it there, apart from chat.
  4. 20:15The chair adjourns. Recording stops on the publishing point and the capture uploads to the library. The recording appears as on-demand content that evening, with its transcript, captions and chapters.
  5. WednesdayA reporter searches the archive for a phrase spoken during public comment and lands on that minute. The clerk asks AI Intelligence Hub what the board decided on the zoning variance and gets an answer citing the moment.

What stays where

OBS Studio remains the encoder

Scenes, sources, mixing and hotkeys stay in OBS. The portal receives the program feed and does nothing to the encoder.

Nexus runs the event

The schedule, the audience, chat and Q and A, the recording and its retention are in the portal. Viewers never see OBS.

Processing where you deploy

The streaming server can be VIDIZMO's, Wowza, or your own, and the portal runs in VIDIZMO's cloud, your cloud or on premises. Social simulcast needs outbound internet.

Nothing to buy for the encoder

OBS Studio is open source. Live streaming is licensed as a feature of the portal.
