Axis Communications

Record and pull video from Axis cameras. Visit website

Axis Communications pioneered the network camera and remains one of the most widely installed camera brands.

Cameras are reached directly over open protocols, so an existing Axis estate becomes an evidence source without new hardware.

Live Alerts From the Axis Cameras Already on Site

Open as a two-page brief

Axis cameras record what they see, and whatever records them keeps doing so. AI Live Insight reads the same streams and watches all of them at once: people, vehicles, weapons, plates, PPE and fire. The clip around each event lands in Nexus, AI Intelligence Hub answers questions over those clips, and Redactor blurs faces and plates before a copy leaves the building. The cameras stay where they are.

How it connects

AI Live Insight connects to each Axis camera over RTSP, with the camera's address, port, stream path and credentials supplied at setup. ONVIF profiles S and T cover discovery, stream URL retrieval and PTZ. Encoding stays on the camera: the H.264 or H.265 bitstream is read as emitted, with the codec detected per source, so a mixed fleet runs in one service.

Only the stream flows, inbound. Detections become a timed metadata track beside each recorded segment, and the clip around an event is filed in the library under one Recording Folder, organized by camera, under the same access control, retention and chain of custody as the rest of the library. Configuration is per camera in the portal: classes, confidence, severity, zone rules, and the seconds kept before and after an alert.

Nothing flows back. Camera control, device settings and any VMS already recording the same cameras stay where they are. The connection is to the stream.

What you can do together

  • Watch every Axis feed for people, faces, vehicles, weapons, license plates, PPE and its absence, fire and graffiti, with zone rules for loitering, intrusion, line crossing, crowd count and direction of travel, through AI Live Insight.
  • Get an alert with a snapshot by email or webhook the moment a rule fires, and keep the seconds around it with event-driven recording.
  • Hold the clips in Nexus with a SHA-384 integrity hash, a chain-of-custody log and a retention schedule, and ask AI Intelligence Hub which clips show what, with a citation to each one.
  • Release a copy with Redactor blurring bystanders' faces and plates, a code on each redaction recording why, and the original left in the library.

A scenario

  1. 06:10, loading dock cameraA contractor walks onto the dock without a hard hat. AI Live Insight, watching that camera for missing head protection at Medium severity, raises an alert with a snapshot and emails the shift supervisor. Event-driven recording keeps the seconds around it.
  2. 06:12The supervisor opens the alert, acknowledges it and walks over. The alert now reads Acknowledged, with her name against it.
  3. 14:35, yard cameraA forklift crosses the line drawn along the pedestrian walkway. The line-crossing rule on that camera, set to High, fires. The Operator Dashboard's alert count moves, and the clip lands in Nexus.
  4. Next morningThe safety manager watches the clip and resolves the alert with a note naming the corrective action. Every action carries who took it and when.
  5. Month endShe asks AI Intelligence Hub which yard clips show a vehicle inside the walkway, and gets a list citing each clip.
  6. The following weekThe insurer asks for the forklift clip. Redactor blurs the faces of two workers in the background, records a code on each redaction and exports the copy; the original stays in the library.

What stays where

The cameras and their recorder stay in place

AI Live Insight reads the stream beside whatever records the cameras today; camera control and device settings stay with the camera's own tools. Nothing is replaced.

No new cameras

Any Axis camera that publishes RTSP or answers ONVIF discovery works, older models included.

Processing near the cameras

A GPU server on site runs detection and recording, so alerts do not depend on an internet link. The library, the assistant and redaction run there too, in your own cloud, or air-gapped with self-hosted models.

Two orders, one conversation

Cameras come from your Axis Communications reseller. VIDIZMO licenses its software separately, and setup is configuration rather than a project.
