Zoom Recordings That Outlive Zoom's Storage
Zoom hosts meetings, webinars and virtual events for a large share of organizations, and its cloud recordings live under Zoom's own storage limits. With the Zoom connector, Nexus ingests cloud recordings on a schedule, transcribes and indexes them, and holds them under retention, access control and a custody trail, so a session is retained and searchable long after Zoom would have let it go. Zoom stays the meeting tool.
How it connects
Zoom is an ingestion connector. Cloud recordings and their available metadata transfer inbound on the connector's schedule, and after each one lands the source recording is left, moved or deleted, as configured. Transfer runs on that schedule rather than at the moment a recording finishes, and what metadata arrives is bounded by what Zoom exposes. Configuration is entered once by an administrator in the portal.
Nothing flows the other way. The connector reads recordings and writes nothing back beyond the configured move or delete. Zoom accounts and meeting settings are not managed from the portal, and Zoom's sharing settings do not carry across: who may open a recording in the library is decided by the portal's own roles, groups and sharing, applied inside every search and every answer.
What you can do together
- Have every Zoom cloud recording land in the library on its own, through Nexus, with a transcript aligned to its timeline so a phrase is found and played from that moment.
- Keep recordings past Zoom's storage limits on a retention schedule you set, with lifecycle policies previewed before they run and a legal hold that overrides the schedule for anything tied to litigation.
- Hold recorded interviews and hearings with a SHA-384 integrity hash and a custody record of every action, which is what makes a Zoom recording usable as evidence.
- Ask AI Intelligence Hub, included in both Digital Evidence Management and Enterprise Video Platform, what a term of webinars covered and get a cited answer limited to the recordings you may open.
- Turn recorded lectures and training into courses with quizzes and LTI links to the LMS, using the portal's own learning features.
A scenario
- SetupThe administrator configures the Zoom connector in Nexus once: which cloud recordings to pull, source left in place, run every hour.
- Tuesday 09:00An instructor's lecture ends. After the next run the recording is in the library with a transcript, visible to the group the administrator set for that course.
- ThursdayA student searches "standard deviation" and plays from the moment it was explained.
- Same monthThe dean asks AI Intelligence Hub, "What questions came up in the financial-aid webinars this term?" and gets an answer citing each webinar and the moment, drawn only from recordings she may open.
- Later that termZoom's storage limits are reached and older cloud recordings are cleared there. The library copies remain on the college's retention schedule, and a lifecycle policy the administrator previewed soft-deletes them only when that schedule says so.
What stays where
Zoom remains the meeting tool
Scheduling, hosts, participants and settings stay in Zoom. The connector reads cloud recordings and nothing else.
Nexus reads, and writes back only what you chose
A source recording is left, moved or deleted according to the post-ingestion action you set. Zoom and its permissions are not changed.
Nothing is replaced
Meetings and webinars happen in Zoom as before. The library holds a governed copy with its own access model, retention, custody trail and search.
Processing runs where the portal runs
Transcription, indexing, hashing and the assistant run on the portal's infrastructure, as SaaS, in your own cloud or on your own servers.
