WowzaStreaming and Delivery
Live Events on the Wowza Server You Already Run
Wowza Streaming Engine on your servers, or Wowza Video in the cloud, is the origin: it takes the encoder's feed, transcodes it and delivers it at scale. With Wowza set as the streaming server behind Nexus, every live event's publishing point is created on Wowza, the audience watches in the portal, and the recording lands in the library as on-demand content that AI Intelligence Hub can answer questions over. Wowza keeps doing what it does; the event, the audience and the archive are added around it.
What you can do together
- Run a town hall as a scheduled event on Nexus, streamed through your Wowza server: registered viewers get an email reminder, watch in the portal or in a player embedded on your site, and rewind within the DVR window if they join late.
- Take moderated chat and questions during the session, with questions on their own channel and exported afterwards.
- Record on Wowza and have the capture land in the library as on-demand content, with a transcript aligned to the timeline, captions generated from it, and chapters at topic boundaries.
- Keep the library on Wowza as the portal's storage provider, so recordings and uploads sit on infrastructure you already operate.
- Ask AI Intelligence Hub what was said about a subject across a year of town halls and get an answer citing the moment.
How it connects
An administrator sets Wowza as the portal's streaming server provider, choosing Wowza on premises or Wowza cloud, and the portal talks to it over Wowza's REST API. Each live event gets a publishing point created on Wowza. The encoder sends RTMP to that point, Wowza ingests and delivers the stream, and viewers play it over HLS in the portal's own player. A persistent publishing point keeps the same destination across a recurring series, so the encoder configuration stands.
Recording starts and stops from the publishing point. Where Wowza records server-side, the capture is uploaded into the library as on-demand content under the portal's access control and retention. Separately, Wowza can be the portal's storage provider, set in the control panel, so the library itself is kept on Wowza rather than Azure, AWS or local storage.
Nothing about Wowza's own setup changes. Its applications, transcoder settings and administration stay with your Wowza administrator. The portal creates points and drives recording, and that is all it writes.
WowzaStreaming and Delivery
A scenario
- Two weeks outThe communications office schedules the event on Nexus. The publishing point already exists on Wowza from last quarter, so the AV crew changes nothing on the encoder.
- Morning ofRegistered residents receive the reminder email with a calendar attachment.
- 18:30The crew's encoder starts sending RTMP to the publishing point. Wowza takes the ingest, and the live control room on the portal shows the incoming feed.
- 19:00The mayor begins. Residents watch in the portal and in the player embedded on the city website. Questions arrive on the Q and A channel and a moderator answers them there.
- 20:10The session ends. Recording stops on the publishing point, Wowza's capture uploads to the library, and the recording is on demand that evening with its transcript, captions and chapters.
- The next weekA council aide asks AI Intelligence Hub what the mayor said about the transit levy and gets an answer citing the minute.
What stays where
Wowza remains the origin
Ingest, transcoding and delivery run on Wowza, configured and operated by your Wowza administrator. The portal creates publishing points and starts recordings on it; it does not change how Wowza is set up.
Nexus runs the event
The schedule, the audience, chat and Q and A, the recording, its retention and the on-demand archive are in the portal.
Processing where you deploy
Wowza Streaming Engine on premises keeps the stream inside your network; Wowza Video puts delivery in Wowza's cloud. The portal runs in VIDIZMO's cloud, your own cloud or on premises.
One conversation for both
Wowza is a VIDIZMO technology partner. VIDIZMO can supply Wowza Streaming Engine licenses or Wowza Video as part of a deployment, or connect to the Wowza you already run.
Products and solutions
