Journal Technologies eCourt

Move records with the case, and let a workflow read them. Visit website

Journal Technologies eCourt is case management for courts, prosecutors and public defenders.

Records and evidence transfer with their case identifiers intact, and a workflow reads the case file to assemble a hearing bundle or answer where a matter stands.

Exhibits That Stay Attached to Their Case

Open as a two-page brief

This connector is not prebuilt. It would be built to your requirement on the REST API path the platform already uses, with scope and effort agreed per engagement. eCourt is case management for courts, prosecutors and public defenders, which is unusual: one system serving three parties whose access to the same case differs entirely. That shapes the connection more than any technical detail.

How it connects

Records and evidence would move with their case identifiers intact, so an exhibit and the media behind it stay connected rather than being re-keyed by a clerk. A workflow could then read the case file to assemble a hearing bundle or answer where a matter stands.

Access is the design problem worth naming. A court, a prosecutor and a public defender have different entitlements to the same case, and an integration that treats the case number as the only key produces a library where the wrong party can reach material. An engagement would establish how role on the eCourt side maps to access on this side, and that is the work rather than a configuration detail.

eCourt stays the case system of record. The docket, filings and calendar stay there. Nothing is written back unless a step is scoped for it, and an engagement would settle whether a case disposition changes retention on attached media, since a court's schedule and an evidence schedule are rarely the same document.

What you can do together

  • Keep an exhibit attached to its case through the identifiers rather than through a clerk re-keying them.
  • Assemble a hearing bundle with a workflow reading the case file.
  • Map role on the eCourt side to access here, so a court, a prosecutor and a defender each reach only what they should.
  • Decide whether disposition changes retention on attached media, rather than leaving two schedules to disagree.

A scenario

  1. ScopingThe engagement would map roles to access and settle what disposition does to retention.
  2. SetupThe connection is configured once against the eCourt API with case identifiers mapped to attributes.
  3. FilingAn exhibit and its media attach to the case, reachable by each party according to the mapping.
  4. A hearingA workflow assembles the bundle the hearing needs from the case file.
  5. DispositionRetention on the attached media follows the decision made in scoping rather than by default.

What stays where

eCourt remains the case system of record

Docket, filings, parties and calendar stay there.

Role mapping is the substance of the work

Three parties share one case with different entitlements, so case number alone is not a sufficient key.

Retention on disposition is decided

A court's schedule and an evidence schedule are rarely the same document.

Processing runs where you deploy the platform

Shared or dedicated SaaS, your own cloud, on premises, or air-gapped.
