Transcribe and Detect in Your Own AWS Account
AWS provides speech-to-text and video analysis as managed services, Amazon Transcribe and Amazon Rekognition among them. Connected to Redactor, they become one of the paths AI processing can run on. Media is submitted to your own AWS account, and a transcript and detected objects come back as timed data against each item, ready for search and for redaction. The account region decides where media is processed. Nothing about your AWS estate changes, and the platform's own processing path stays available beside it.
How it connects
AI processing runs on one of two provider paths, and the choice is a deployment decision with a data-residency consequence. On the VIDIZMO Indexer path, processing happens on your own infrastructure and content does not leave it. On the AWS path, you supply your own AWS account, the platform calls the services over their REST APIs, and processing happens in that account, in its region.
Media goes out for processing and results come back as timed data: a transcript aligned to the timeline so every word is a jump point, and detected objects as tracks that resolve to a moment. Both are indexed and searchable against the item, and both are what Redactor works from. Transcription language mode is set per job: a specific language, auto-detect, or auto-detect across several languages.
General scene labels describing objects, people, scenes and activities are also produced on this path, distinct from the platform's own detector classes.
What you can do together
- Find a spoken name or card number by reading rather than listening in Redactor: search the transcript, select the words, and the audio segment inherits the timing, ready to silence or beep.
- Review every detected person, vehicle or identity document as a track across the timeline in Redactor, merge duplicates, adjust boxes, delete false positives and draw what the detector missed, before anything is released.
- Run automatic redaction in Redactor over selected classes at a set confidence threshold for routine volume, with detection review kept for a consequential release.
- Keep Redactor's media processing inside the AWS account and region you already govern, with the VIDIZMO Indexer path available for content that must not leave your environment.
A scenario
- SetupIT enters the agency's AWS account credentials and region and selects AWS AI services as the processing provider for transcription and object detection.
- 14:00The claims coordinator uploads the bus footage to Redactor. The audio goes to Amazon Transcribe and the video to Amazon Rekognition in the agency's account, and a timed transcript and object tracks come back against the item.
- 14:20She searches the transcript for the injured passenger's name and the names of two other passengers, selects each span, and the segments inherit their timing. She sets them to silence.
- 14:30In the studio, the detected people appear as tracks across the timeline. She merges two tracks the detector split, deletes a false positive on a seat back and draws a box around a bystander it missed.
- 14:45She exports the redacted rendition for the claimant's attorney. The original stays under the output policy set for the job.
- ThroughoutThe footage was processed in the agency's AWS region, and the transcript and detections now sit with it in the library for the next request.
What stays where
AWS keeps running the services
Amazon Transcribe and Amazon Rekognition run in your account, under your region and your billing.
Redactor reads timed data
Media goes to your account for processing; a transcript and detections come back and are indexed against the item. Redaction, review and export happen in Redactor.
Nothing is replaced
The VIDIZMO Indexer path remains available, and on it content never leaves your environment. The provider is a deployment decision, not a rebuild.
Where processing runs
In the AWS region your account is bound to. A disconnected deployment uses the VIDIZMO Indexer path, where transcription and detection run on local models.
