Challenges
To store digital evidence, the Georgia Attorney General’s Office uses LEMS, an internally centralized repository hosted on AWS S3. While LEMS provides secure storage, it lacks key functionalities such as playback, advanced search, and analysis.
This limitation made it difficult for legal teams to review evidence efficiently, often requiring additional tools and manual efforts to locate and assess relevant files. Additionally, managing evidence from 29-50 law enforcement agencies and ensuring secure access to over 100 users presented logistical challenges.
The office also needed a robust redaction solution to comply with legal requirements, particularly for handling Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests and redacting sensitive personal information before presenting evidence in court.
Lastly, live surveillance operations required a reliable system for storing and reviewing footage from high-crime areas, further emphasizing the need for an integrated digital evidence management solution.
Solution
